第一次中东战争（19481949）：又称巴勒斯坦战争，以色列称独立战争。1948年5月14日，以色列宣布建国。次日凌晨，外约旦、伊拉克、叙利亚、埃及等阿拉伯国家出兵进攻以色列。
第二次中东战争（19561957）：又称苏伊士运河战争，以色列称西奈战役。1956年10月，英、法、以色列借口埃及宣布苏伊士运河公司收归国有和禁止以船只通过运河与蒂朗海峡，联合向埃及发动进攻。
第三次中东战争（1967）：又称六五战争，阿拉伯国家称六月战争，以色列称六天战争。1967年，以色列借口埃及封锁亚喀巴湾，于6月5日晨，对埃及、叙利亚、约旦发动突然袭击。
第五次中东战争（1982年6月9月）：又称黎巴嫩战争。1982年6月6日，以色列出兵占领黎巴嫩1/4的领土，袭击黎巴嫩境内的巴解组织及其武装力量，并与在黎的叙利亚军队交战
