Introduction : 路加是唯一一位作者为自己的福音书写续篇──使徒行传的。从使徒行传，我们可以更清楚看出路加是第三卷福音书的作者。使徒行传中，那些提到我们的部分，是作者亲身参与其中的（一六10；二○5，6；二一15；二七1；二八16；比较提后四11）。经过淘汰的过程，只有路加能够配合上述的时间。而从受信人同是提阿非罗和写作风格来看，很明显路加福音和使徒行传是出自同一个作者。
路加福音的写作日期，极可能是第一世纪的六十年代初。有些人认为路加福音写于七十五至八十五年间（甚至在第二世纪），部分原因是由于他们否认基督能够准确地预言耶路撒冷被毁。耶城于主后七十年被毁，所以主的预言必定是在这个日子之前记录的。
因为差不多所有人都同意，路加福音的成书日期比使徒行传为早，而使徒行传最后提到保罗在罗马，大约是主后六十三年，因此，路加福音的完成日期必定比这个日子为早。如果罗马的大火、随之而来尼禄对基督徒的逼害（主后六十四年），彼得和保罗的殉道等事件，在成书之前已经发生，这位教会史学家的鼻祖是绝不会忽略的。因此，本书最可能的成书日期是主后六十一至六十二年。
当我们研读路加的福音书，甚愿我们听见救主的呼召，撇下所有，跟随祂。属灵的知识叫我们顺服神。当我们进入福音书所描述的经历，圣经的意义对我们便更显清晰和宝贵。
